小惑星探査機「はやぶさ2」｜月・惑星探査プログラムグループ

「はやぶさ２」は、「はやぶさ」と同じように、イオンエンジンを使って、目的の小惑星まで飛行していきます。「はやぶさ２」の機体はほとんど「はやぶさ」と同じですが、「はやぶさ」で問題があった点は改良し、「はやぶさ」以降に開発された新しい技術は積極的に導入します。また、C型の小惑星に合わせた観測や物質採取を行います。打上は2014年（バックアップとして2015年）を予定しています。小惑星に到着するのは2018年半ばで、1年半ほど小惑星に滞在し、2019年末に小惑星から出発、そして2020年末に地球帰還の予定です。
